About Ingrid

Ingrid Goff-Maidoff lives a poetic and love-filled life with her husband and two daughters on the island of Martha’s Vineyard. Her writing reflects a woman of cultivated awareness and sensuous spirit. Through Sarah’s Circle Publishing, Ingrid has quietly produced beautiful hand-sewn books of poetry and inspiration that have been delighting the public for over a dozen years. She is now represented by Julia Lord Literary Management. In October 2007, Andrews McMeel published 3 of Ingrid’s books of quotations: Happiness, Friendship, and Love for national distribution.

Although she does give the occasional talk, poetry reading, and Universalist sermon, it is through her books, her web-site, the Artisan's Shows of Martha's Vineyard, her "Portions of Joy" e-newsletter, an now her on-line Journal TENDING JOY, that Ingrid reaches the world.

Ingrid Answers a few questions

What inspires your writing?

I have to say that I am blessed in so many ways. My writing is inspired by gratitude, passion for the divine, spiritual inquiry and reflection, my marriage of over twenty years to Jonah, my daughters Rose and Isabella, and the beautiful island on which we live…

Writing is how I light a candle, instead of cursing the darkness. This is how I hope to pour light into the world. This is my dharma, my work and my way of being in the world. Whether it is in the form of a blessing, a prayer, a song, book, article, or even a gift, ultimately these are my expressions of love.

I think that many of us hunger for words that breathe the sacred into our everyday moments. I know I do. And I think that the world is hungry for beautiful and soulful things ~ things that vibrate with loving energy, artfully made by artisans who have taken the time to pour good energy and, yes, love and light into them.

Your work is very spiritual. What is your religious path?

I've always been a bit of a nectar seeker. I find exquisite gems in Buddhism, Sufism, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, poetry and philosophy~ in each of these I find affirmations for my personal spiritual path… I hope to live my days in awareness of the sacred, in relationship with Divine Presence. And this gives me a lot of poetic and creative energy. I suppose that if I must have a label, then I am a Universalist, not married to any particular religion, but open to learning from many faiths. I believe that we are all connected. We hold the Divine within us, and are in turn held by Supreme Love.
