Morning Prayer

Eternal Love,
Opening my eyes,
let me give my life to You.
Making the bed, let me give my life to You.
Washing my face,
let me give my life to You.
Walking down each stair, let me give my life to You…

In the faces of my family, let me see You there.
In the stranger on the street, let me see You there.
In the sun, the trees, the clouds in the sky,
Let me see You there.

With my breath, let me know You.
With each step, let me know You.
With every thought, let me know You.

With each word, let me live You.
With every deed, let me live You.
With every action and interaction, let me live You.

Help me give my life
To see You, know You, live You.
All my other wants
Are pale compared to these.

I believe you want me to be all that I am,
And that I was given this life by you to embrace fully.
I believe that you delight, not in poverty and prostration,
But in the soul's exuberant joy.
This joy is found most of all in and through love.
I vow to love you and the gift of this lifetime,
And to express this love
through kindness, beauty, and thanksgiving.
I believe that you are friendly to me,
And that you are ever patient and kind.
You are steadfast and true,
Even when I forget my own lovability, potential and worth.
You have planted a seed of love in my heart,
And you rejoice to watch it grow.

Holy Happiness,
Forgive my forgetting!
How often I've left shore in a boat,
Leaving the oars of your direction in the sand,
Or kept my sail furled to the wind of your love.
How often I've been stranded in a sea that was you
And still not seen you!
