Sometimes a Kiss Can Do That, from the book What Holds Us

Sometimes A Kiss Can Do That:

unhinge a rusted gate

to let the moonlight in;

send rain to a parched field,

to play the dust like a drum;

release a hollow ache;

warm a stubborn chill;

build a bridge, a raft,

a momentary trust.

Sometimes, through a kiss

we open

to the infinite world

that holds us.

I’m not saying all the time,

but sometimes.

And sometimes

this is enough.

Ingrid… what a beautiful poem… the kiss… something so intimate, tender, sensual and passionate… it opens us to the infinite… the infinite that holds us… and connects us… and is love itself….

So lovely…Is this one of your new poems, Ingrid? It deeply touches me. And what also strikes me is that the way you describe this kiss is not just in a romantic way. A kiss given to a friend, a child, even a pet, opens us in untold ways. How wonderful that we can kiss…
xo to you!
