“If you can dream it, you can do it.” ~Walt Disney
For years now, when asked what she wanted to do when she grew up, my daughter Rose would share a vision she had of a castle. In this castle, she saw a school where people could come and stay, and where they would dress in Medieval or Renaissance costumes while learning about life in that time period. Rose has been passionately sewing costumes and wearing them for as long as we can remember. For years I have watched my daughter, now nearly 17, describe this fantastical vision to people, while they did their best not to reveal their cynicism. I myself worried about this, but would repeat, “If you can dream it, you can do it.” Who am I to say what is or isn’t possible?
Next week we are flying to Florence Italy to visit with my father-in-law. We are also going to go see the castle pictured above. As it turns out, Jonah met its owner on a school trip in February. When he heard she owned a castle, he mentioned Rose’s dream. The owner’s eyes lit up. Apparently she has been having a very similar vision for several years. She and Rose are going to meet. Perhaps just to share stories ~ to nurture each other’s dreams. Perhaps she will have Rose sew costumes for her. No matter what happens, we have all begun to be even firmer believers in visions and dreams, and that anything is possible.
A friend of mine called me this morning to say I had to watch this youtube video of Britain’s Got Talent. She and I cried together years ago over the Paul Potts video. Well, Britain’s done it again. If you haven’t seen this one yet, Enjoy. Susan Boyle sings I have a Dream.
And you might want to ask yourself, “What Do I Dream?”
