Ingrid Goff Maidoff - Tending Joy

"What astonishes me, always, is to turn from my forgetting and recall there are whole villages inside you, love, where I have yet to travel." ~Ingrid Goff-Maidoff, One Thousand Evenings More

Come with me into the darkness

by Ingrid Goff-Maidoff

Come with me into the darkness

where I'm not pressed to be beautiful.

Where the watched go unwitnessed, unguarded,

and deep speaks to deep in a wordless tongue.

Let me take off this outrageous costume

I bought for approval and fantasy

and go with you into the darkness

wearing only my love.
